Moar suns, more than one mention of cancer

Heyyy there!  I have done a bunch of things to write about.

The first one is that I got a fancee new phone and can now upload straight from the phone to the blog, because despite the desperately scared 13 minutes I spent this morning worrying that I'd forever forgotten my password to the account I blog from, I found the password written down!  And then figured out how to upload from my phone!

I'm also going to take a moment to say that I am completely delighted that Google hasn't redone the Blogger login page for about 17 years or something.  Thank you.  We do not need a new login page.  And probably at some point nobody will even be able to blog anymore because no one is allowed to have a thought lasting longer than about 23 seconds, but for now I will write my long rambling blog posts that nobody but my mom reads.  (Hi mom!)

The second one is this, a gender-neutral baby quilt:

Looks like my technological talents have not yet extended to managing the picture uploads well, so you get a glut of pictures and then more words.

This quilt is for a mom who I met when she applied for a job where I work, then met several months later while my partner was dying of cancer because she was his vaguely familiar nurse.  I know a nurse who knows her and her bestie, so we're going to bucket brigade it over to her.  I'm not quite sure when she's due, but I think it's soon and I'm excited to be able to get it to her.

This next one is Plaidish in blues:

It is for my first cousin once removed, who lost her daughter suddenly to cancer early this year.  All the blocks are pieced and I get to lay out the bottom half today and then I can start piecing the top together.

There's another top and pieced back I finished, but my plans for quilting it got derailed.  I'll make new plans for quilting it and try really hard not to forget it exits, which I've done a couple of times already.  I don't have pics of it on the new phone, so my system for being prompted that things exist cannot work for that one.

I have space to quilt at home now, which has already made it easier to make progress on quilts - I was having to haul everything out and set up every time I wanted to do anything.  Now I have a big design wall I can actually use.

There is another need for a boy baby quilt, and I'm thinking about making quilts for kids as they graduate high school.  I like the Plaidish pattern a lot and have my eye on a couple of quiltalongs.  And there are a couple of Elizabeth Hartman quilts I'd like to mash up, so lots to do.

Happy crafting!
